DIY Playroom Storage

A friend of mine is setting up a playroom and needed some inexpensive storage for multiple opening shelf. We came up with these:

For a whopping $2 per box! Materials needed:

  • .59 boxes
  • coordinating scrapbook papers
  • mod podge
  • spray adhesive
  • exacto knife or paper cutterĀ if you buy boxes that are not 12x12x12 like we did accidentally

We had to cut one side because the boxes she had were not the same size as the scrapbook paper, but that was pretty easy. Then, I laid out all the papers in piles of 4, so the prints would match up nicely. I sprayed each side of the box and carefully laid a paper on it, smoothing it over from bottom to top to avoid bubbles. After all the sides were sprayed and papered, I mod podged the edges.

It really only helped on the top edge, so I stopped putting it on the side edges because it was making it weirdly wavy. All in all, it was a pretty cheap and fast project- picking out the papers actually took the longest!

I haven’t seen it in the space yet, but I think it will look great! Hopefully the children don’t tear it up too quickly.
