Asking for more blueberry/almond milk smoothie
We’ve been signing since she was 6 months (only “more” and “milk” consistently and 5ish others intermittently), and I was beginning to wonder if she would ever pick it up. I was shocked the first time she did it, unprompted, surprised that something I’ve been doing actually worked! It was kind of a mini-validation for how we’re choosing to parent. It may not be mainstream, but it works dangit! Well, at least it does after seeing it for nearly half her life, so maybe I’m being too quick to celebrate, but whatev, I take my successes wherever I can get them.

Love this, Janalyn! Max was the same way – I thought he would sign “more” for everything for the rest of his life, then one day he started making the motions for four or five signs I had almost given up on! Crazy how those little minds work.
It is crazy! And now he knows SO many; it gives me hope!
